Visit to Sculptor Kirsten Kokkin’s Studio and Gallery April 6 at 11:45 for 12:00
Kirsten Kokkin is one of the most renowned and famous figurative sculptors, not only in Norway, but also in the USA, where she has numerous public installations in many different states. She has her academic education from the Norwegian Art Academy and the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. She took to travelling the world early and her first commission took her to Western Australia. Since then, she has travelled and worked in Italy, the USA and Norway. Presently Kirsten divides her time between her studios in Oslo and Colorado USA.
Among her many public installations in Norway, the two monuments in the Palace Garden: HRH Crown Princess Märtha – the mother of His Majesty King Harald of Norway – and Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway.
For our visit to her present Studio/Gallery in Oslo , she will guide us through a brief introduction of the process of creating a sculpture, and then take us to her adjacent gallery where she will talk about her concepts, thoughts and expression in her sculptures.
