‘The Crisis of Trust Everywhere – and in Norway in Particular’
Nina Witoszek (Fitzpatrick) is a Polish-Irish-Norwegian writer and research professor at the Centre for Development and the Environment (SUM) in Oslo. She grew up west of Krakow in Poland, where she as a student was involved in an oppositional group. She fled Poland in 1983 because of her work for an illegal editing company. In the 1990s, she taught comparative art history at the University of Galway and the University of Firenze. Some of her most cited academic works focus on the philosophy of Arne Næss and modern Norwegian cultural identity.
Her talk is based on a new book that she co-wrote with Eva Joly, Det blåøyde riket. Norske tillitspatologier, Cappelen Damm, 2023. (‘The Naïve Kingdom: Norwegian Confidence Pathologies’)
