Dear Members,
It is with a heavy heart that I need to tell you that my health does not allow me
to seek re-election at the AGM in June. I shall have to let go of the Newsletter,
too, and become a regular pensioner and a regular member of the Forum. Before
Christmas, I became very ill with an infection of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
The infection caused the failure of both kidneys. All the Committee Leaders
have been informed of my decision to step down in June.
I hope that our members will help the Nomination Committee by either
volunteering or suggesting names of possible candidates for the Board
(President, members and deputies), the Editorial Team (Editor and proofreaders)
and the Monthly Meeting Committee.
The Board will meet with the Nomination Committee in February in order to
start putting up a list of possible candidates. We welcome inputs and
suggestions.
The contract with Styreweb Regnskap AS terminated on January 31. I shall do
my utmost to make sure that we have control of the accounts. We shall revert to
using the basic Styreweb, as we have done for quite some years.
International Forum is a special organisation with very special and precious
members. The membership is what this organisation is all about: members
sharing events and activities, coming together and making friends. It is one of
the first things mentioned in our Statutes: ‘The main aim of the organisation is to
promote friendship through understanding between individuals of different
nationalities.’ That is what we do best and that is what we shall focus on in the
future. Being together and enjoying life.
