SUMMARY:Special event Introduction to Ayurveda
DESCRIPTION:The Special Events Committee has the pleasure of inviting our members for a presentation on the health benefits of Ayurveda. Mrs. Darshini Vimal\, spouse of the Ambassador of India\, has kindly agreed to host this event for the members of the International Forum.  \nThe event will showcase a small selection of the health benefits of Ayurveda\, followed by a session of chair yoga. Some healthy Ayurveda preparations will also be shared with the participants. The event will conclude with a sumptuous Indian lunch.  \nAyurveda is an alternative medical system with long historical roots in the Indian subcontinent. It is heavily practiced throughout India and Nepal\, where as much as 80% of the population report using Ayurveda.  \nAyurveda therapies have varied and evolved over more than two millennia. Therapies include herbal medicine\, special diets\, yoga\, massage\, laxatives\, enemas\, and medical oils. Ayurvedic preparations are typically based on complex herbal compounds\, minerals\, and metal substances.9  \nIn Ayurveda texts\, dosha balance is emphasised. Suppressing natural urges is considered unhealthy and believed to lead to illness. Ayurveda treatises divide medicine into eight canonical components. Ayurveda practitioners have developed various medicinal preparations and surgical procedures from at least the beginning of the Common Era (secular alternative to AD).  \nDATE/TIME: Thursday\, March 20 at 10.15 for 10.0. \nSIGN UP: By email to Mona Reinboth no later that March 13. \nPLACE: indian Street Food Restaurant\, at Sørengkaia 7\, 0194 Oslo. \nPRICE: NOK 100 (includes lunsj) \nThursday\, March 20\, at 10:15 (for 10:30) By email to: Mona Bækkelund Reinboth by email as soon as possible and no later than Thursday March 13.
